FAQS

What is This FIFO Life?

This FIFO Life celebrates FIFO workers and their families.

People’s stories and experiences are at the heart of This FIFO Life and highlight the strengths and resilience of the FIFO community. We’ve talked to lots of you and we know you have some amazing strategies for making FIFO work well. So this is about sharing knowledge, tips and ideas to support your mental health and well being. Life isn’t always smooth and easy and FIFO is no different.

On This FIFO Life you can find blogs with links to articles, videos, websites and talks about lots of topics to help you stay mentally healthy. They will be posted regularly and if you follow us on Facebook you can also make comments and contribute to the discussion there.

Who has developed This FIFO Life?

The WA Mental Health Commission have generously funded this project and it has been developed by mental health professionals, Julie Loveny and Sue Crock.

Our tips and advice on staying mentally healthy come from our own experience of FIFO and our work in mental health and our extensive conversations with FIFO workers and families.

How do I use the website?

You can filter articles by choosing what stuff you want to see. There’s stuff for everyone, fifo workers, families and mates and the bosses. Use the main navigation to filter options. Choose which one works best for you, or if you like you can look for a topic (e.g. relationships or parenting) by using the search bar.

Managers and supervisors you will find information for you, which might be useful for your pre-starts, toolbox talks and inductions.
