A portion of the proceeds will go to supporting This FIFO Life.

While Love Crushed Velvet hails from far-off New York City, the story of WA’s FIFO workers is close to their hearts. With their raw, gutsy sound, Love Crushed Velvet has a reputation for bringing emotions to life with unflinching honesty. Never afraid to broach dark and difficult subjects, the band embraces the power of storytelling through compelling lyrics and richly layered melodies.
Having carved out a unique place in the music world, Love Crushed Velvet brings a fresh perspective and a healthy dose of rock ‘n’ roll to this album –telling stories of love, loss and loneliness that cut dangerously close to the bone.

As the backbone of WA’s mining and resource industry, Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) workers are helping create huge wealth to support our nation.

The question is, who’s supporting them?

More than 60,000 Australians are living a FIFO life in the Pilbara, and it can be tough. Slogging it out in remote areas, often under extreme conditions is hard at the best of times – and even more so when you’re separated from family and friends. Without a support network close by, many FIFO workers struggle in silence as they deal with isolation, disconnection and depression. With this in mind, the West Australian Mental Health Commission funded ‘This FIFO Life’ – a resource for existing workers, employers and those considering the FIFO life. It addresses the symptoms of mental health issues; raises awareness, and pro-actively provides people with support and opportunities to connect with others who are in the same situation.

In the Pilbara region, many people are hungry for opportunities, and a sense of connection and belonging. So at MACRO Realty Developments, that’s what we’re working to provide.

We believe that by building liveable, well equipped cities, we’re doing more than just creating infrastructure – we’re creating strong communities where people can thrive. From social support to commercial opportunities, we help give people the essential elements they need to live happy, productive lives. Without strong commitment to the people of the Pilbara region, we want to do whatever we can to support the mental health and wellbeing of the FIFO community.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with This FIFO Life and Love Crushed Velvet to create this album. We hope that by breaking the silence on mental health, we can encourage people to speak out – and know that their voices will be heard.
