Cool Stuff by Cool People: Rachael Jacobs
This week we’d like to give a shout out to Rachael Jacob’s the young woman initially behind the I’llridewithyou hashtag that was developed as a show of support for Muslim Australians after the siege at the Lindt cafe in Sydney last week.
The trauma following an event like this will no doubt impact many Australians, Muslims and of course the hostages and families directly involved in the siege.
If someone you know is experiencing racial discrimination or religious discrimination then speak up, talk to them, tell someone else around you. All Australian’s should be embracing the rich and diverse culture we have in our country. Why not read our former blog Cultural Diversity, What Is It? to learn more about it so you can share the knowledge amongst others.
If someone you know is experiencing trauma related to the Sydney siege last week or any kind of trauma then show your support by finding them the help they need. Why not read our former blog Help! Where Do I Get Some? to aid you in knowing where to reach out for support.
Well done to Rachael for standing and speaking up. Well done Australian’s for your show of support throughout and post the Sydney siege and to the Muslim communities of our country. To follow the story and see what other Aussies are posting follow the ABC story here.
