Sharing the FIFO experience

When you are away on site and in camp it is all  familiar for you. You may start to take for granted the experience and the sights you see, but they could be very novel and interesting for your family. Daryl and Chelsey make FIFO a shared experience and look forward with excitement to exchanging tales by Skype, phone, email and texts.

Describing the little details of your day to your partner and your children can help to ‘paint the picture’ of your FIFO life. If your family haven’t been to the area where you work it could be very interesting for them to hear about the machinery, the trains, the scenery and the wildlife. Tell them about it and take photos to send them.

Daryl and Chelsey love nature and flying so this is a large part of their daily contact with each other. When Daryl can he Skype’s from the top of a hill and shows Chelsey the landscape or some kangaroos or a plane landing and it makes Chelsey feel much closer to him!

Both pilots, Daryl and Chelsey fly together and this shared interest is something they look forward to during R & R. Working FIFO  enables them to indulge their passion and is one of the benefits of this lifestyle.

In what ways do you share the FIFO experience?
